Blog Post #170 – Hospital Fined $10,000 After Workers Became Ill

Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital Corporation, Burlington, was fined $10,000 on December 8, 2009, for a violation under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) after workers became ill.

On April 30, 2008, Joseph Brant Memorial was informed that a patient who had just been admitted to the hospital had been in contact with scabies, a highly contagious skin rash caused by microscopic mites. The next day, the hospital’s infection control manager implemented a scabies surveillance protocol at the hospital. Hospital workers reported skin rashes from late May to late July 2008. During July, two workers were diagnosed with scabies and lost time from work.

Blog Post #137 – Some Work-Related Inquests Becoming Mandatory

Excerpt from the OH&S Canada magazine

New Brunswick is moving forward with mandatory inquests for fatalities in a number of specific work environments.

On April 16, 2008, the provincial government announced amendments to the Coroners Act will be tabled to make inquests a must following fatalities at woodland operations, sawmills, processing plants (lumber, food and fish), construction sites and mining operations.

Blog Post #129 – A Banner Day for HRS Group Inc. – Registered Blog Comment 10,000!

I have enough material to create many more blogs but today I have to speak from the heart and this blog is personally aimed at my readers.

I started blogging at the end of November last year, and here we are, August 30th, 2011 and we have 131 blogs to date. This is not the special information I want to pass on to the readers. No, the real deal is that I have just reviewed the 10,000 registered comment! Wow!!! There are comments from all around the world. Russia, Poland, Australia, India, many from England, and much from my friends in the United States as well as my home country of Canada.
