Martinrea International Inc., carrying on business as Hydroform Solutions, pleaded guilty and has been fined $75,000 after a worker suffered serious injuries when machinery fell while being lifted with an overhead crane.

An elevator company pleaded guilty and was fined $80,000 after a worker suffered injuries and was airlifted to hospital for treatment. The incident took place at United Hoist Equipment Ltd.’s office and storage facility located at 106 Commercial Road in Bolton. The company is in the business of providing personal and material elevators for the construction industry.

The 2011 death of a worker and injury to another at a Toronto Transit Commission subway construction site in North York has resulted in a $50,000 fine to a subcontractor of the project. Following a trial, Advanced Construction Techniques Ltd. was found guilty on August 16, 2016 and sentenced in court on September 26, 2016 by Judge Brent Knazan.
