Dustin Greer, a supervisor with Barabco Design/Build Inc., a North York constructor, was fined $8,000 for a violation of the Occupational Health and Safety Act that caused a worker to be injured. He was also fined $4,000 for providing an inspector with false information.
A faulty gas-monitoring sensor is believed to have contributed to an incident in which 18 workers were exposed to a potentially deadly gas at a copper and zinc mine near Millertown, Newfoundland.

SSEC Canada Ltd., the Canadian subsidiary of Sinopec Shanghai Engineering, has been ordered to pay $1.5 million in relation to a workplace accident that killed two foreign nationals and injured three others in Alberta. The fine is widely being reported as the largest fine imposed for a workplace accident in Alberta.

An Alberta construction company has been fined $300,000 for its failure to protect the health and safety of a 20- year-old employee who died after becoming entangled in the unguarded tail pulley of a rock crusher.
