A worker was injured while unloading a pallet of soil from a truck. Contrary to safety procedures, the University of Guelph failed, as an employer, to take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the health and safety of the worker, contrary to 25(2)(h) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Two workers, employed by Aluma Systems Inc. of Bolton, Ontario, were injured when the shoring under a concrete pouring operation collapsed. Aluma Systems Inc. failed to ensure re-shoring was supported and braced appropriately.

The Ontario Ministry of Labour has worked out an information-sharing agreement with the federal government to protect the rights of the province’s temporary foreign workers (TFW). The agreement, announce by the Ministry on December 16, 2016, will facilitate the exchange of data about employers and recruiting agents between the federal and provincial governments.
