Blog Post #491 – Day 2 at the CSSE Conference – September 12, 2014

Hi again,

We spent a full day at the CSSE Conference for a course listed as “Assessing OHSE Training Needs and Options”. There were about 15 people in the class and the material was, indeed, what I expected. We learned much about how to assess the training needs of possible individual companies.

Some of the topics were,

1) The benefits of OH&S training, the training program and all possible costs attributed to training,
2) We were lead through a cost benefit calculator, (exciting) and was asked why it was very important for us to calculate projected or actual costs of an accident/incident, and
3) we had many other group discussions and other participatory group projects.

I do have to say that I was impressed and found the material germane to my day-to-day business.

Now, it is off to breakfast and day 2 of the course.

Wish me luck.

By the way, there were many interesting people in the course. It is a great day for a h&s professional to be in a room with like-minded and highly motivated group.
